This is the definitive list of Bands RaFans.net members like and think other members should try out. Please, please add your favorites to the list! The only requirement is that you need to give me a link where sample songs can be streamed for free, without registering for anything. I recommend using MySpace. All you have to do is link me to the page, but feel free to tell me what genre the music falls under. If you don't tell me the genre I'll add it myself.

I will also be keeping track of how many people like each artist. I'll add an asterisk "*" for each person who votes for the artist. You can vote for as many artists as you want, just listen to the bands and reply saying "I would like to vote for <band name 1>, <band name 2> etc." and I'll add an asterisk for you. Feel free to vote for different bands in multiple replies (like, maybe you vote for bands 1 and 2 today, and then tomorrow you can vote for bands 3 and 4), but please only vote for each band once, I'll be watching for this and if someone double-votes for a band on purpose I'll remove their bands from the list. You have been warned! (NOTE: Bands that you add to the list will automatically get your vote, please don't add a band and then vote for it later)

One last note, this is not a thread where you can bash others' band choices. If you don't like a particular band just keep it to yourself.

Bands will be listed in alphabetical order. I'm choosing not to separate them by genre to encourage musical experimentation, so just start clicking!

Ooh. This might take awhile. I tend to keep my genres pretty basic, because things can have so much overlap and multi-genre crazyfests it's not even worth trying to label everything. These are all bands I like well enough to keep a good portion of their music on my main playlist.

I verified Myspace pages where there might have been confusion, but with how many bands I listed, I didn't have time to check all of them for song availability. Hopefully it works.

3 Doors Down - Rock
3 Inches of Blood - Metal
Adema - Hard Rock
Atreyu - Rock
Ayreon - Metal
Blind Guardian - Power Metal
Breaking Benjamin - Rock
Bullet for My Valentine - Metal
Coheed and Cambria - Progressive Rock
The Confession - Hard Rock
Demons & Wizards - Metal
Disturbed - Hard Rock
Dream Theater - Progressive Rock
Evanescence - Rock
Hurt - Rock
Ill Niņo - Hard Rock
Kamelot - Metal
Lacuna Coil - Metal
Linkin Park - Rock
Rains - Rock
Rush - Progressive Rock
Seether - Rock
Sevendust - Hard Rock
Shinedown - Rock
Sonata Arctica - Power Metal
Symphony X - Metal
The Dreaming - Rock
Three Days Grace - Rock
Trapt - Rock
Tsunami Bomb - Punk
I can't believe that I am down in this hole,
Always paying the toll
For having found my way to you.

Heya guys! I would like to add a few that I really dig - they can all be viewed on myspace, but I'm not sure of their respective page links.

Theory of a Dead Man (Rock)
Red (Rock)
Allele (Rock)
NonPoint (Rock)
32 Leaves (Rock)
Sick Puppies (Rock)
Crossfade (Rock)
Cold (Rock)
Saving Abel (Rock)
Staind (Rock)

I think the rest of what I listen to is pretty much already listed, but these above discs almost never come out of my player.

I'd like to vote for Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, and Symphony X, and would also like to specify that Kamelot and Symphony X are also in the Power Metal Genre. Also, here's some more favorites.

Forgive me for not linking myspaces on all of these bands, I'm on dialup, and the pages take decades to load.

Dimmu Borgir www.myspace.com/dimmuborgir - Melodic Black Metal
Dark Moor - www.myspace.com/DarkMoor - Power Metal
Dethklok - LOL, they're actually skilled musicians, and even though I'm not a fan of their show, I like the band. - Death Metal-ish.

Level 80 Elite Tauren Cheiftian - www.myspace.com/L80ETC - Metal - Yeah, yeah, they're a World of Warcraft band, but they're pretty awesome.

DevilDriver - Death Metal.

Mors Principium Est - Death Metal - Pretty hard to find any of their music, but you can find it on Youtube, I'm sure.

Serenity - Power Metal - Searth YouTube for the song "Engraved Within" It's great.

Killswitch Engage - Metal/Death Metal
Weapons change over the years. First it was the Sword. Then it was the Gun. And now, it is the Guitar.

My connection is kinda slow tonight so sorry for not posting the links... But there are a couple of bands here I do agree with like:

Disturbed
Lacuna Coil
RUSH!!!!!!!
Coheed and Cambria
Cold
A Perfect Circle

I would like to add my own small contribution. These never fail to be in my car's cd changer or playlist on my pc:

AC/DC (anyone have tix to the show in DC?? LoL Still depressed about not getting them for my birthday present. Sold out too damn fast!)
Airbourne
Black Stone Cherry
Incubus (before Dirk split)
Godsmack
Papa Roach
Nickelback
Tantric
PUYA

And many more... Those are the first few that rolled off the top of my head right now.

-E.
