This doesn't make Ra's future sound very promising:

Quote

Ra guitarist Ben Carroll is looking for a few good musicians for a brand new melodic rock band:

Vocalist/Guitar Forming Melodic Rock band. (Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, U2, Muse, the Doors, the Beatles & the like) I have been a professional musician for most of my life and I’ve made very solid connections in most aspects of what it will take to launch a new band to the national level; Labels, Radio, Management, Concert Promoters….

Seeking pro level players aged 21-31:
Bass with backing vocals
Keys with backing vocals – Keys that could play Guitar as well that would be amazing!

Anyone interested can check out Ben’s latest myspace blog and respond with a link to music that features your best playing.

I will always be there when Ra needs me...no need to worry about me.

I've been listening to Ra so long and religiously, I never thought about the day they would end. After reading a few posts I got that sinking feeling in my gut, like when you find out you've lost a relative or something. Though it sounds corny, that's what Ra's music is to me.

It's dissapointing listening to crappy bands on the radio getting paid for sounding familiar. Music with substance is hard to come by.

Andy's post was comforting.

Ra if you read this, stay together damnit!

They arn't going anywhere soon because i called my rock station today and asked them to play Supernova. Supposedly sahaj hadn't sent them "anything new". But he said he would look into it. And its all over my facebook. I'd pay 10 dollars for 1 good song from RA. I'm going to call every other day for Ra songs.

Edit: Btw im from iowa city area and am a student at the University of Iowa...

I called them again today. They don't buy records. So Sahaj has to send them blacksheep in order for them to play Supernova. Supernova is such a strong track... i know people here would love it. They played broken hearted soul instead.
I hope Sahaj will continue writing and singing......whatever he decides to do i will follow his work. I bought ben's cd.

Edit: Actually I "trust" that Sahaj will continue writing and singing :)

AWESOME, I'm from Marshalltown! I go to college at Notre Dame now, but that's sweet...Rock 108 are really big fans of Ra, I had a 20 minute conversation about them with Michael Cross one day when I called in to request Broken Hearted Soul.

I wish they'd go on tour around the Midwest, I'd kill to see them...

When they do tour, they usually hit the midwest pretty hard core. They are big in Cedar Rapids, IA, Madison, WI and Ft Wayne, IN. I'm in the Quad Cities area. I travel all over when they tour near here just to get my fix because I never know when they'll come back this way. I've seen them live probably 7 times and each time was better than the last.

Every band has down time, and some side projects. No matter what worries abound, Ra will be around, we'll just wait as impatiently (j/k) as possible. Good to hear from Andy and seeing what we fans are writing here. Like a couple people said, we fans calling and pestering the radio stations will get them to see what a great band Ra is and get more air time for them. here in the Northeast, not alot of radio stations seem to play real music anymore *cue poppy stuff that is forced on everyone lately*

Folks...

Past two records did not meet expectations (sales).

Sahaj is working on a solo record.

Ben has a solo record and is forming a new band.

Andy and PJ are who knows where.

From my point of view, it's not looking good.

I'm not trying to be all gloom and doom here, but I'm not putting my money on RA just now...

Sounds like the band are maybe accepting that things aren't going to 'take off' like we all hoped it would. When you try for so many years at something maybe there's a time when you think 'if it hadn't happened now then it isn't meant to be' and there's nothing worse than trying to force something that isn't in the stars.

No-one wants to fight a losing battle.

Sometimes, it's best to quit while your ahead and cut your losses leaving amicably and with great memories. Otherwise new records which just aren't up to scratch will completely tarnish the name of Ra and for me personally, I wonder if it would've been a terrible thing if the band stopped after Duality...

"like we all hoped it would"

Dude, I'm putting on my funeral clothes 'cause Sahaj is supposedly calling it quits. He's the heart of the band, and there's no way he could be replaced. Now all I need is an offical "Ra is disbanding" or something like that from the main dude Sahaj 'cause he owes that to his fans (he also owes a live DVD and music video hahaha; seriously though, why not?). I thought with his new company (SMR) they'd pump out RA material but I guess not. Looking at how quickly they released Black Sheep, why can't they do that with a RA record? Man, this is frustrating watching Ra sink into oblivion.

Ben,PJ, Andy, Sahaj

Guys, please make a USO Tour and insist/demand on coming to FOB Marez/Diamondback (Mosul, Iraq). I can get you the contact info to some USO personnel that get acts lined up and you have to tell them you will go to Mosul! We got shafted in Carlos Mencia and Kid Rock. We are SO SICK of no name or washed up singers coming through here. Country stars from 10 years ago and Elevator Music up and comers are not what soldiers need. You guys have that sound and energy that Outclasses and Outplays any RockPop 3-string band. In Mosul you have approximately 6,000+ US Soldiers and personnel, times are slowing down and though they aren't as tough as it use to be here, we need things to break us from the days of nothing happening. Granted, a slow day is a GREAT day in Iraq, but, bring us some REAL entertainment. You guys can use the opportunity to promote Ra albums and your solo stuff while possibly building a new group of fans that could possibly restart that fire.
I've been following you guys since DYCMN first hit the STL radio and exploded from there, you're the one band where I felt morally obligated to actually buy your albums and not just Limewire download them!

There's approximately 120,000 US soldiers in Iraq, most of them between ages 18-25, ready to hear you guys rock the place harder than an IED.
